That was our year – the Materna 2025 Year in Review

Growth, visibility and a strong new home 

Organic revenue growth of 13 per cent in 2024 has carried Materna into 2025 with renewed vigour and competitive strength. This success from the previous year reaffirms our role as a leading digitalisation partner and has enabled us to continue driving key initiatives for our clients in 2025. A particular milestone was the official opening of our headquarters at the Phoenix West site in Dortmund – a modern, open-plan building that embodies innovation, collaboration and sustainability. The visit by the Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia underscored the site’s significance as a driving force for digital transformation.

Innovation for public administration and digital sovereignty 

Digital administration was once again one of our key focus areas in 2025. By integrating KIPITZ into the federal government’s form management system, we have taken a significant technological step forward, enabling public authorities to utilise AI efficiently within existing processes. Furthermore, we have made an open-source web solution for digital sovereignty available. This is another building block in making public administrations more independent, transparent and future-proof. Thanks to a strong partner network, we were also able to secure a new framework agreement to strengthen digital sovereignty, thereby further expanding our role as a strategic digitalisation partner to the public sector. 

At the same time, we have also set an important course in other sectors relevant to security and resilience. This includes, in particular, the strategic realignment of our Defence division, through which we have significantly sharpened our focus on activities in the defence and security sectors. The aim is to expand operational IT systems, digitise command and support processes, and further develop secure platform solutions for use both at home and abroad. 

Events that shape the future 

Knowledge transfer and networking were always the focus. The Materna Innovation Forum offered a comprehensive overview of technological trends and specific customer applications, ranging from AI and the future of work to cloud infrastructures. Resilience Day 2025 used numerous expert presentations to demonstrate how organisations can prepare for disruptions, cyber risks and complex supply chain situations. Our well-established NRW Public Transport Symposium also demonstrated once again this year why it ranks among the most important platforms for the public sector. With high-calibre speakers, up-to-date best practices and in-depth discussions, the event once more brought together decision-makers from the federal, state and local levels.

Partnerships that deliver real added value 

In 2025, we continued to expand our partner network in a targeted manner to provide organisations with the best possible support on their transformation journey. Going forward, we will be working even more closely with AXXCON on strategic organisational development and digital transformation for energy suppliers and municipal utilities. The partnership with Buildsimple also strengthens our portfolio in the areas of automated document analysis and AI-powered workflows. Both collaborations complement existing alliances and open up new possibilities for powerful, integrated customer solutions.

Awards and Recognition 

It was yet another year in which Materna was recognised for its achievements as a digitalisation partner. In addition to several industry accolades, including the eGovernment Readers’ Choice Award, we were once again able to underline our strong position in the SME sector and were ranked amongst Germany’s top SME companies. Our appointment as BMC Partner of the Year 2025 is also significant proof of our expertise in cloud and service management. We were also particularly pleased to present the Graduate Award once again, through which Materna recognises outstanding final-year dissertations on digitalisation in public administration. The three winning dissertations impressively demonstrated how innovatively young talents are tackling future technological and organisational challenges.
