In today’s security organisations, there is intense pressure to carry out investigations, coupled with a very high volume of increasingly diverse data formats. Investigations must be accelerated and criminal offences identified more quickly. The necessary data is often difficult to retrieve or is available in an unsuitable format. Digital investigation and data management tools based on artificial intelligence (AI) support the day-to-day work of the police. This encompasses the collection, processing and reuse of information from traditional and increasingly digital crime scenes, whereby data is captured more efficiently, stored in a manner admissible in court and made available for further investigative purposes. Furthermore, appropriately visualised data helps to confirm existing knowledge and identify new connections. We support you with (AI-assisted) data analysis and visualisation, Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT), IT forensics, cryptanalysis and OCR solutions. Providing a secure mobile working environment is a key prerequisite for Germany’s digital sovereignty. The threat posed by attacks on digital infrastructure, as well as on specific information channels, continues to rise significantly, partly as a result of international political events. Public security authorities and organisations must be able to access specialist systems and electronic files securely via ultra-mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.). This trend is set to intensify in future and ensures that state bodies can act swiftly and in response to specific incidents. In an emergency, the public must be informed quickly, emergency services must communicate efficiently with one another, and situational assessments must provide the relevant information. Federal cooperation across all levels – local authorities, federal states and central government – and the involvement of aid organisations are of crucial importance in this regard. This requires digital solutions, the appropriate infrastructure and a well-thought-out resilience strategy. For the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK), Materna provides, amongst other things, the NINA warning app, the emergency information and news app. We also implement further specialist systems that ensure and provide logistical support for civilian emergency services in the context of civil protection, as well as in the event of a defence or alliance emergency, such as in the FreiburgResist project in the field of resilience management.
