Real-time airspace protection

Spot drones before they become a threat. Keep track of all locations with our SIEM dashboard.

Drone detection for critical infrastructure

Critical infrastructure requires more than just ad hoc drone detection. This is because overflights are often not detected at all, or only sporadically, whilst the risks of espionage and sabotage are on the rise. At the same time, regulatory requirements are placing greater responsibility on critical infrastructure organisations, for example through the KRITIS Framework Act. They need a security monitoring system that systematically incorporates airspace into the situational picture. Only those who can detect threats effectively can initiate or implement countermeasures.

Materna offers a concrete solution for this: we consolidate sensor data into a central SIEM site situation picture and make drone activity visible across all sites in real time. This allows incidents to be detected and classified more quickly and linked to existing security and alerting processes. At the same time, this provides the ability to transmit timely and audit-ready reports to the security authorities. For critical infrastructure organisations, this creates an integrated approach to monitoring new threats effectively and transparently – as part of a holistic property security concept.

Three steps to a monitored site

Sensor Technology Consultancy

  • Consultancy on UAV detection sensors and the provision of UAV detection software
  • Conducting bespoke risk analyses in accordance with KRITIS requirements

UAV Exposure Check

  • Software-based UAV exposure check and perimeter analysis
  • Identification of blind spots in detection and calculation of optimal sensor positioning

SIEM Property Overview

  • Consolidation of sensor data into a central SIEM
  • Comprehensive drone situation overview across all sites
  • Real-time alerting of internal and external services

Four structured implementation phases for your property protection

Phase 1: Analysis and consultation

We carry out a bespoke risk analysis in accordance with KRITIS requirements, assess your exposure and advise you on the best sensor technology for your sites.

Phase 2: Implementation and Integration

Working with leading manufacturers, we install the sensor technology and integrate it into your existing SOC. The data on flying objects captured by the sensors is transmitted in encrypted form to the central SIEM situational awareness system.

Phase 3: Operation and scaling

We set up bespoke dashboards, define alerting rules and train your security staff on how to use the system. The situational overview is then ready for live operation.

Phase 4: Scaling and expansion

If required, additional properties can be connected and the system expanded to cover multiple sites. On request, we can put you in touch with specialist service providers for physical intervention measures.

The benefits for you

You can detect unauthorised overflights at an early stage, avoid potential disruptions and integrate security incidents into a central, comprehensive situational overview. You benefit from high scalability and a solution that integrates seamlessly into existing security structures.

Real-time monitoring and detection

Live dashboards and instant alerts in the event of airspace violations provide you with an immediate overview and an up-to-the-minute picture of the situation. You can avoid operational disruptions and take targeted countermeasures.

Scalability

You can roll out the solution to a wide range of different properties, regardless of their location.

KRITIS-compliant

Our solution meets the regulatory requirements of the KRITIS Framework Act, backed by audit-ready evidence.

Sensor mix

We offer manufacturer-independent advice to help you find the best combination of sensors for your specific application.

Seamless integration

You can integrate various types of threats (cyber security, physical security or drone defence) into your existing SOC.

Proven SIEM technologies

We work with leading manufacturers of UAV detection sensors and use proven SIEM technologies (e.g. the Elastic Stack) for data integration and visualisation.

Aerial security monitoring as part of a comprehensive property security strategy

Materna is your implementation partner for drone detection as part of an integrated security monitoring system. We combine consultancy, UAV exposure checks, sensor integration and SIEM integration into a comprehensive approach to protecting critical assets. The result is not an isolated silo system, but a robust situational awareness framework that fits seamlessly into existing SOC and security processes. Critical infrastructure organisations are thus provided with a solution that combines technical implementation, scalability and regulatory requirements. In this way, airspace protection becomes an integral part of your resilient security architecture.

Let’s go into detail

Materna helps organisations to implement drone detection as part of an integrated security monitoring system. To this end, we combine consultancy, UAV exposure checks, sensor integration and SIEM integration into a comprehensive approach. This creates a cross-site situational overview that provides real-time visibility of drone activity and can be integrated into existing security and alerting processes.

The solution is designed for organisations with sensitive properties, multiple sites or business processes requiring special protection. These include, in particular, energy suppliers, industrial companies, airports, public authorities, military barracks and operators of critical infrastructure. Materna can also assist with temporary security scenarios, such as those surrounding major events, by detecting drone activity at an early stage and integrating it into a central situational overview.

Materna supports you every step of the way, from the initial analysis right through to integration into your day-to-day operations. We assess the security risks at your sites, advise on suitable sensor technology, identify blind spots and integrate the data collected into a centralised SIEM property overview. On this basis, dashboards, alerting rules and processes can be set up for operational use.

Yes. A key benefit of our approach is that we do not view drone detection as a stand-alone solution. Materna integrates sensor data into existing SIEM and SOC infrastructures, enabling drone activity to be analysed alongside other security-related events. This provides a consistent picture of the situation across a range of threat scenarios.

With the UAV Exposure Check, Materna analyses how well a site is protected against unauthorised drone flights. We identify detection gaps, assess the perimeter and use this information to make recommendations on the optimal placement of sensors. This provides you with a solid basis for planning targeted investments and improving the effectiveness of your surveillance.

Materna supports KRITIS organisations in translating regulatory requirements into concrete technical measures. This includes risk analyses, the integration of drone detection into existing security architectures, and the creation of audit-ready evidence within security monitoring. In this way, we help organisations not only to address new requirements at a conceptual level, but also to implement them in practice.

Yes. Materna has designed the solution so that additional sites can be integrated gradually. The centralised SIEM site overview allows drone activities to be consolidated and monitored consistently across all locations. This is particularly beneficial for organisations with distributed infrastructures, as it enables them to keep track not only of individual sites but of their entire portfolio of sites.

Yes. Materna not only provides support with design and integration, but also with the transition to live operation. This includes, amongst other things, setting up dashboards, defining alerting rules and training security officers. In this way, we ensure that the solution is used effectively in day-to-day operations and can be scaled up further as required.
