Portfolio now even more closely aligned with market requirements

Digitalisation is permeating all business lines

The Dortmund-based IT consultancy firm Materna Information & Communications SE has aligned its business lines even more closely with market requirements. As part of this process, business lines were consolidated and renamed with effect from 1 January 2020, and the portfolio was further expanded.

With effect from 1 January 2020, the IT Factory and Digital Enterprise business lines were merged into a single business unit and are now positioned in the market as the Digital Transformation business line. Uwe Scariot, Executive Vice President, is responsible for this business unit. The Digital Transformation business line supports IT organisations at clients in the private and public sectors with their digital transformation and assists specialist departments such as customer service, marketing and sales in implementing digital business models. Services include consultancy, implementation, support and operation of market-leading technologies, process consultancy and the development of IT projects. Key areas include cloud and infrastructure management, enterprise service management, agile software development, digital marketing and Industry 4.0. The business unit’s technology partners include, amongst others, Amazon Web Services (AWS), BMC Software, Micro Focus, Salesforce and ServiceNow.

The business involving client projects for the public sector is now managed by the Public Sector Business Line, which operated under the name Government Business Line until the end of 2019. This business line is headed by Michael Hagedorn, Executive Vice President. The Public Sector Business Line focuses on the public administration customer segment and supports public authorities in the strategic and IT-related implementation of government tasks and in their digital transformation. Materna provides support in the design and roll-out of portal solutions, the optimisation of administrative processes (implementation of the E-Government Act (eGovG) and the Online Access Act (OZG)), as well as with the introduction and migration of e-file solutions, the deployment of electronic form services, the expansion of IT-based human resources management systems and solutions, and the implementation of bespoke specialist procedures. The public sector is one of the company’s most important sectors. With its comprehensive sector-specific expertise, Materna has been very well positioned in this sector for many years.

The Public Sector division is driving forward Materna’s positioning as a provider and consultant for healthcare digitalisation issues. The focus is on offering digital consultancy projects and solutions to the statutory part of the healthcare sector. Target groups include statutory health insurance funds, associations of panel doctors, accident insurance providers and similar organisations.

Another key area currently being expanded is cyber security. In future, Materna will offer cyber security consultancy, security awareness training, vulnerability scanning, identity and access management, security architecture consultancy and related services.

In addition, the Materna Group comprises two further business divisions with a strong international focus: the cbs Group, based in Heidelberg, specialises in SAP consultancy and primarily serves industrial companies. Materna IPS develops and markets solutions for automated passenger processing and serves airlines and airports.
