The IT group Materna has acquired the manufacturing and IoT specialist Trebing + Himstedt Prozeßautomation GmbH & Co. KG. The long-established company specialises in digital transformation towards smart factories and smart products, employs around 60 staff and has offices in Schwerin, Berlin and Stuttgart. The acquisition has been integrated into the subsidiary cbs Corporate Business Solutions, the SAP consultancy firm within the Materna Group. Trebing + Himstedt utilises SAP’s innovation portfolio to implement its solutions.
With this acquisition, cbs is sustainably expanding its capabilities within the Materna Group in the manufacturing sector to create a comprehensive digitalisation offering for the ‘Manufacturing’ and ‘Product Development’ sectors. Customers will be supported with seamlessly integrated, agile and modular solutions and services. cbs and Trebing + Himstedt are already familiar with one another through joint client projects. Their collaboration on those projects has already proved promising. Both companies target the same client group: the European global market leaders and ‘hidden champions’ of the manufacturing industry. Their respective markets and client bases complement one another perfectly.
“cbs and Trebing + Himstedt are a perfect match. We also share the conviction that we must deliver excellent quality on an equal footing. We are now embracing the vision of the Digital Factory, pooling our expertise based on over 500 smart factory projects, and will use this to develop comprehensive solutions for the industry community,” explains cbs CEO Rainer Wittwen.
“cbs is an independent member of the Materna Group and contributes to the ambitious strategic goals of our group. A key component in achieving the objectives of our group strategy ‘Mission 2025’ is inorganic growth through strategically valuable acquisitions such as Trebing + Himstedt, which will further strengthen our market position in the industrial sector,” explains Martin Wibbe, CEO of the Materna Group. The Materna Group has a rock-solid, long-term capital structure that enables it to finance transactions from its own resources, independently of the capital markets. Earlier this year, Materna had already acquired the companies TraffGo Road GmbH and Virtual Solution AG. Further acquisitions are already in the pipeline.
