Materna establishes an IT systems consultancy for organisations in the fields of internal and external security

Materna Infrastructure Solutions GmbH was launched on 1 May 2022.

On 1 May 2022, the Materna Group established its own IT services company specialising in IT infrastructure solutions for organisations involved in internal and external security. The new company operates under the name Materna Infrastructure Solutions GmbH and is a wholly-owned subsidiary. Materna Infrastructure Solutions supplies German security authorities with turnkey IT and data centre infrastructures that meet the highest standards of performance, flexibility and cyber security. The solutions are based on state-of-the-art Dell systems, from the leading supplier of IT infrastructure for security authorities’ data centres.

The managing directors of the newly founded company are Martin Grüning and Robert Knapp. Martin Grüning is moving from Dell Technologies to the Materna Group. At the technology provider, Martin Grüning most recently served as Chief Technology Officer for Government for several years. Robert Knapp previously spent over ten years as Head of the Cloud & Infrastructure Services division at the Bundeswehr service provider BWI and joined the Materna Group in mid-2021.

Digitalisation has radically transformed the work of security authorities. This has been accompanied by a massive increase in data volumes, a rapid rise in the number of cases, high demands for fast computing power, and new tasks in the cyber domain. The new Materna subsidiary offers services to address these challenges: from consultancy and design through to the implementation of complex data centre infrastructures that are highly available, secure and scalable. This is carried out in close cooperation with technology partner Dell Technologies.

The team consists of experienced and certified infrastructure and security experts, as well as IT architects and project managers. “We support security authorities with modern technology platforms, thereby optimising police work through digitalisation, for example. Our projects range from smaller systems to extensive police cloud solutions, which we advise on, design, implement and also operate. We are focused on growth and will be expanding our team rapidly,” says Martin Grüning. “This project experience translates well to the military sector. We will also be active in the defence sector in future,” adds Robert Knapp.

“We have been a reliable partner for IT solutions in security agencies for many years and enjoy an excellent reputation in the public sector,” says Michael Hagedorn, Executive Board Member for Public Sector & Cyber Security at the Materna Group; the new company falls under his remit.
