Materna appoints new Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Dr René Rüdinger is the new CFO of the Materna Group.

The Materna Group is strengthening its team with a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with effect from 1 September 2021. Dr René Rüdinger (46) is taking up the vacant post. A graduate in economics (Dr. rer. pol.), he was previously CFO for Central Europe at Arcadis, a global, publicly listed engineering, planning and consultancy firm.

René Rüdinger has many years’ management experience in international companies across the automotive, manufacturing and service sectors, and will be able to bring this expertise to bear at Materna.

It was only in April that the Materna Group unveiled its growth strategy up to 2025, which sets out plans to double turnover and staff numbers in its core market of Germany, as well as internationally with clients in Europe, the USA and Asia. Following record turnover of 355.1 million euros in 2020, a very positive trend in turnover and earnings is also emerging for 2021.

“Dr René Rüdinger is thoroughly familiar with the corporate culture in both medium-sized and internationally active companies. His many years of management experience are an excellent fit for our growth strategy, under which we are investing heavily in expanding our portfolio, making acquisitions, building up and developing our workforce, and strengthening our position as a modern employer. We are delighted to welcome him as a new member of #TeamMaterna,” says Martin Wibbe, Chairman of the Board and CEO at Materna.

“Materna’s ambitious growth strategy, its family-owned structure and its long-standing reputation have sparked my enthusiasm for this role. Working closely and in a spirit of trust with Martin Wibbe, I intend to use my experience to continue writing Materna’s success story over the coming years,” explains René Rüdinger.

Before joining the Materna Group, Dr René Rüdinger was CFO for Central Europe at Arcadis, a global, publicly listed engineering and consultancy firm. His previous career roles included positions at Daimler AG, where he served as CFO and divisional managing director of a subsidiary, and at the Indian-based Hinduja Group, where René Rüdinger led the subsidiary Albonair as CEO and CFO. Dr René Rüdinger completed his international degree in economics (Kassel, Lyon, Madrid) in 2000 and subsequently obtained his doctorate in Kassel whilst working full-time. He speaks four languages (German, English, French and Spanish), has three children and lives in Düsseldorf.
