Materna and VERSO launch a partnership to drive the sustainable transformation of SMEs

The Dortmund-based IT service provider and the Munich-based ESG software pioneer are integrating their offerings.

The EU’s new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will soon require small and medium-sized enterprises to report on their sustainability performance as well. A joint offering from the Dortmund-based IT service provider Materna and the Munich-based ESG software pioneer VERSO supports companies in establishing a future-proof sustainability management system – thereby enabling them to position themselves optimally for sustainable transformation.

“We are combining our change and IT expertise with VERSO’s sustainability expertise to create a comprehensive offering. Sustainability is a highly topical and pressing issue in society; for companies, acting sustainably is not an option, but an absolute necessity,” says Materna CEO Martin Wibbe. “We are therefore delighted that we can now support them in tackling their challenges across all areas of their business with our combined expertise.”

Comprehensively collecting and utilising data with bespoke software solutions

Comprehensive data collection and the associated internal processes represent the biggest hurdle for companies in meeting these requirements. This is precisely where the offering from Materna and VERSO comes in: “Decentralised, cross-process and cross-system data collection through the development of bespoke software solutions has been Materna’s core competence for more than 40 years,” explains Dinah Erdmann, Vice President of Digital Strategy Consulting. Added to this is bespoke consultancy. “We offer companies a modular approach to their sustainable transformation.”

Combined with VERSO’s CSR/ESG software, which Materna is adding to its portfolio, this creates the ideal solution. It enables companies to build an effective sustainability management system based on their existing IT and data infrastructure and to produce, amongst other things, a carbon footprint assessment and a sustainability report in a time- and cost-efficient manner.

“Together with strong IT partners, we are driving the ‘twin transformation’ of SMEs: our mission is the sustainable transformation of the economy. The core expertise of IT service providers, on the other hand, lies in digital transformation. Partnerships therefore logically generate enormous synergies for SMEs,” says Andreas Maslo, co-founder and CEO of VERSO.

IT meets Sustainability: Creating value based on shared principles

With Materna and VERSO, two companies are now working hand in hand, both committed to the same fundamental principles: sustainability and social responsibility. VERSO stands for a holistic approach and practical expertise in sustainability, and has been offering its SME clients software and services for comprehensive sustainability management for more than ten years. “We are delighted that our first official partner in this segment is Materna, a family-run business that is both values-driven and highly innovative,” says VERSO CEO Maslo.

“The fundamental principle of sustainability is firmly embedded in Materna’s DNA – environmentally, economically and socially. VERSO has an excellent reputation in this field and is therefore the ideal partner for us to provide our clients with the best possible support on their journey towards sustainability and resilience,” said Materna CEO Wibbe.
