Martin Wibbe is to become the new Chief Executive of IT services provider Materna

Materna Group under new management

Martin Wibbe (41) will become the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the IT consultancy firm Materna Information & Communications SE with effect from 1 April 2020. Most recently, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Michael Knopp had been leading the family-owned company on an interim basis following Helmut Binder’s departure on 31 December 2018.

“Thanks to his previous career experience, Martin Wibbe is thoroughly familiar with the requirements of sales and marketing in the IT services sector and is ideally placed to contribute this expertise to our company. He has a thorough understanding of the consulting and sales business,” explains Dr Winfried Materna, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and founder. “With Martin Wibbe, the Materna Group is gaining a relatively young leader with a wealth of experience, and is thus excellently positioned for the future,” adds Helmut an de Meulen, member of the Supervisory Board and founder.

Together, Martin Wibbe and Chief Financial Officer Michael Knopp will drive forward the company’s strategic development and its positioning as an attractive employer in the future-oriented IT market.

“Materna enjoys an excellent reputation in the industry and supports clients with their digitalisation projects. This includes the use of numerous innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, the cloud and the IoT. Furthermore, Materna is one of the few family-run businesses in the IT consultancy sector and is known for its very collegial working environment. I am looking forward to these varied responsibilities,” says Martin Wibbe.

The Materna Group has consistently achieved double-digit percentage growth in recent years. Under Martin Wibbe’s leadership, growth is set to continue in all four of the company’s business divisions, driven by both organic growth and acquisitions.

The Digital Transformation and Public Sector business divisions focus primarily on the German market and support IT and digitalisation projects for clients in the private sector and public administration with consultancy and technology. In doing so, Materna benefits from the ongoing digitalisation across all sectors, such as public administration and the manufacturing industry. The SAP Consulting and Automated Passenger Handling business areas have an international focus and primarily serve industrial companies, airlines and airports.
