Lünendonk List 2026: Materna climbs to eighth place

A major success for the Dortmund-based IT service provider Materna. Lünendonk’s analysts have now ranked the long-established company among the top 10 leading IT consulting and systems integration firms in Germany.

SecuSite AI, drone detection or user-friendly forms – the Dortmund-based IT service provider Materna offers a wide range of solutions for clients in the public sector, critical infrastructure sectors and industry. As a key partner with a strong track record in delivering complex digitalisation projects in critical environments, the company supports its clients from strategy through to operational implementation. The company, which has been in existence for more than 40 years, has now received confirmation of this approach from the authors of the renowned Lünendonk study. Materna has now risen to eighth place, up from eleventh last year.

With a 9.7 per cent increase in turnover, Materna is among the top performers, according to the authors of the study.

“Our strong showing in the Lünendonk study demonstrates that our strategy of thinking big and holistically when it comes to digitalisation projects is the right one,” said Materna CEO Michael Hagedorn. “Our many years of experience with projects in the public sector provide us with the ideal foundation to be seen as a capable and trustworthy partner in the high-demand KRITIS sector and in industry,” Hagedorn continued.

Implementation expertise in critical environments

With projects such as SecuSite AI and a drone detection solution developed in collaboration with technology partners, Materna has created highly effective products for KRITIS organisations and industrial companies. The solutions can be fully integrated into the existing IT infrastructure and automate monitoring across the entire reporting chain, right through to logging.

Digitalisation that delivers added value for citizens

Materna’s developments in interactive application forms, which enable citizens to complete applications using natural language, are practical and a great help to everyone. In the background, AI ensures that the information is interpreted correctly and translated into the appropriate official language. “Citizen-centred digitalisation breaks down barriers between citizens and the administration, thereby building trust in government action,” says Hagedorn.

Every year, Lünendonk identifies the leading providers in the German IT market. The ranking is based on parameters such as company data and surveys.

In early 2026, Lünendonk had already listed Materna as a key partner for effective cloud strategies, secure IT architectures and sustainable digitalisation.
