Comprehensive relaunch of the ITZBund website

Materna and Aperto have developed the new website.

On 16 December 2020, the new website of the Federal Information Technology Centre (ITZBund) went live at www.itzbund.de following a comprehensive relaunch. With this modern website, ITZBund is positioning itself as a high-performing service provider for public authorities and as an attractive employer. The IT service provider Materna Information & Communications SE and the digital agency Aperto, part of IBM iX, designed and implemented the website in collaboration with ITZBund. In addition to the main website, ITZBund’s recruitment marketing campaign ‘Digital-für-Deutschland.de’ has also been given a new look.

As part of a comprehensive relaunch, the website of the federal government’s central IT service provider, ITZBund, has been fundamentally revamped in terms of both content and design to meet the needs and reflect the user behaviour of its target groups.

The IT service provider Materna and the digital agency and IBM subsidiary Aperto provided strategic advice to ITZBund and analysed the website’s potential for further development in the run-up to the relaunch. The focus was on digital communication with customers, job applicants and staff. On this basis, Materna and Aperto jointly developed the concept for the relaunch. Using the Government Site Builder (GSB) – the federal administration’s content management solution – as its technical foundation, Materna created a digital ‘business card’ that presents ITZBund’s range of services in an appealing way.

A key focus in terms of content during the implementation of the website was on ITZBund’s digital mission, its service portfolio and its IT solutions, in particular prominent solutions such as Bundescloud, ATLAS and GSB. In the newly created press section, media professionals can clearly find all of ITZBund’s press releases. This is complemented by a newsroom that summarises all the latest information relating to ITZBund and offers topic-based newsletters. An events calendar is now also integrated.

To appeal to potential applicants, selected content from the recruitment campaign page www.digital-für-deutschland.de – created in 2018 – has been integrated into the main website. As part of the main relaunch, Materna also developed and implemented the recruitment campaign as a revamped sub-site.

Among other things, the Aperto team developed the new, user-centred UX and UI, devised a content and SEO strategy, designed infographics, supported the migration of content and trained the ITZBund’s web editorial team. Naturally, the site is accessible in line with the latest standards and the design is responsive across all devices.

“With our new website, we will further enhance the perception of ITZBund as an attractive and modern employer. We owe the successful relaunch to the excellent collaboration with Materna and its partner Aperto,” says Holger Lehmann, press spokesperson for ITZBund.
