Making it more attractive – the move to the new Materna building is approaching

This year, it’s finally time to say goodbye to our long-standing headquarters at Voßkuhle in Dortmund and – as the saying goes – to book the removal van. The Materna team will be moving into the new headquarters at Phoenix West before the summer of 2024.

For several months now, our new company building has stood in all its glory alongside other well-known companies at the Phoenix West innovation hub in Dortmund. It has shot up almost at breakneck speed. The car park is ‘up and running’, the entrance area has already been glazed, and the interior fit-out is in full swing. Since November 2023, the interior walls have been going up in stages and the cabling for all the technical equipment has been laid. Lifts, the ventilation system and heating have been installed. The painters are hard at work painting. Some of the offices are already completely finished.

It is expected that all of Materna SE’s office space will be fully fitted out and ready for occupation by April. In theory, the first teams could then move in. It is anticipated that the full move-in will take place between the end of May and mid-June. A modern and inspiring working environment will then await around 1,800 Materna employees in Dortmund.

However, before the Materna team can move into their new home, work on fitting out the premises will continue over the coming weeks. To make the five office floors ‘homely’, work-friendly and attractive, a total of around 20,000 square metres of carpet will be laid, 31 kitchenettes fitted out, and state-of-the-art office furniture and technology installed. All offices will be fully equipped with electrically height-adjustable desks. Staff can also look forward to a restaurant and a fitness area. A ‘highlight’ in the truest sense of the word will be the Sky Lounge. Situated on the top floor with a view of the Westfalenstadion and equipped with an exclusive cooking facility, it will be available as an upmarket event venue for special occasions.

The car park next to the building is also taking shape. The planned photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof and car park areas as part of one of the next stages. The building’s inner courtyard will be landscaped in the coming months and designed as a relaxation area for staff. There will soon be news of a very special event when the first ‘co-tenant’ takes up residence there…

Part of the existing office space – ranging from partial floors of 1,000 square metres up to a full floor of 3,300 square metres – is intended for external letting. Prospective tenants are invited to contact Tanja Dirven regarding this. And even though we can hardly wait to move in, we naturally look back on many wonderful memories of our previous location. We had the chance to do just that, not least at our 2023 Christmas party, where all our Dortmund colleagues gathered at the Voßkuhle for the very last time. Soon it will be time to say our final goodbyes and embark on a new chapter together as #TeamMaterna. Bring on spring!
