From a new building to everyday life: a day at work at Materna’s headquarters

Just under a year and a half ago, we moved into our headquarters at Phoenix West. With our move, this impressive building became a new haven for our Dortmund workforce. A lot has happened since then: workstations have been set up and the rooms have gradually come to life. Today, the building is an integral part of our daily working lives. We’d like to take you on a tour and show you what a day at the new Materna headquarters can be like.

Arrival

The day begins with arrival at the Phoenix West site and leads straight into the building from there. In the foyer, reception, initial brief coordination meetings and orientation are all situated close together. The landscape staircase is the defining feature of this area: it visibly connects the different levels and is used in everyday life as a link, a meeting point and a communal space.

Working and Coordinating

The workspaces vary in character: traditional workstations, meeting rooms, retreat offices and think tanks. In day-to-day life, this is particularly evident in the fact that teams can switch between different formats: short coordination sessions, longer workshops, focused individual work or spontaneous discussions.

Lunch break

The restaurant and bistro are integral parts of the day. The lunch break is used here not only to have a bite to eat, but also for conversations away from formal meetings. The fact that the dining areas are open to the public fits in well with the Phoenix West environment and makes the building feel open to the outside world.

Physical activity and breaks

The green courtyard, the ArtOffice, the sports facilities or simply a quick change of scenery within the building offer opportunities to take a break from the daily work routine. These facilities form part of the infrastructure and can be used flexibly.

Conclusion

What sets the headquarters apart today is evident not so much in individual details as in the interplay between the different spaces. Work, interaction, retreat and rest all take place simultaneously.

Further information about the headquarters, the architecture and the services is available on the official website.
