Materna group with new marketing and communications management

Tim Thomas takes responsibility for Corporate Marketing & Communications and expands Executive Management Board

location Dortmund, Date 2022.01.11

Tim Thomas (40) has taken over the vacant position of Senior Vice President Marketing & Communications at IT consulting company Materna Information & Communications SE as of January 1, 2022. In this role, he expands the Executive Management Board of the Materna group and reports to CEO Martin Wibbe. Tim Thomas was previously Executive Vice President Marketing & Communications and a member of the management board at the market companion msg group in Munich.

Tim Thomas, who holds a degree in media economics, has many years of management experience in internationally active IT companies as well as strategic consulting for major international companies in all issues relating to strategy, change, brand, marketing & communications, and is very well placed to bring this knowledge to Materna.

In April 2021, the Materna Group presented its growth strategy until 2025, in which a doubling of sales and employees in the core market of Germany, but also internationally with customers in Europe, the USA and Asia, is envisaged. Following record sales of 355.1 million euros in 2020, the company is also expected to achieve further record sales and exceed the 3,000-employee mark in 2021.

"Tim Thomas is very familiar with the IT consulting and services business through his career to date. His many years of experience in strategic consulting for marketing and communications will strengthen our growth strategy Mission 2025, with which we are investing massively in the expansion of our portfolio, in acquisitions, in staff expansion and further development, and in ourselves as a modern employer, and expand our public presence. I look forward to a trusting collaboration," says Martin Wibbe.

"The Materna Group's growth strategy and its initial successes have made a strong impression on me. I am looking forward to sustainably supporting this course with the expansion of our good reputation, our proximity to customers and the assumption of social responsibility, and to help shape the success story of the Materna group in the future," explains Tim Thomas.

Most recently, Tim Thomas was Executive Vice President and Member of the Management Board at the market companion msg group in Munich, where he was responsible for the central marketing and communications division and thus the global branding strategy. Prior to that, he was Director Customer Strategy and a member of the management team at one of the leading communications and marketing consultancies Fink & Fuchs AG, where he was responsible for consulting for key accounts such as the US software company Salesforce. As Vice President and member of the Management Leadership Team at the world's largest communications and marketing consultancy Edelman, he was previously responsible for the Enterprise Corporate Technology Team. Before joining Edelman, he was a senior consultant at change specialists JP│KOM and brand experts komm.passion.

His professional career began with a degree in Media Economics from BiTS University (Business and Information Technology School), where he graduated top of his class, and a Masters in Business Administration and Communications from Dublin City University. This was followed in 2019 by a degree in Leadership Excellence at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
