Materna Group appoints new head

Martin Wibbe (41) has been appointed as the new CEO at IT consulting company Materna Information & Communications SE as of 1 April 2020. CFO Michael Knopp has been heading the company on his own for the interim period since former CEO Helmut Binder left the company on 31.12.2018.

“Martin Wibbe’s professional career to date means he has in-depth knowledge of the requirements of selling and marketing IT services and his skills will enable him to make an outstanding contribution to our company. He has a thorough understanding of the consulting and sales business”, explains Dr. Winfried Materna, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and company founder. “With Martin Wibbe, the Materna Group is gaining a comparatively young leader who has a lot of experience to his name, thus putting the company in an excellent position for the future”, continues Helmut an de Meulen, member of the Supervisory Board and company founder.

Together, Martin Wibbe and CFO Michael Knopp will drive the strategic development of the company forward while positioning it as an attractive employer in the future-oriented IT markets.

This includes deploying multiple innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, the cloud and IoT. In recent years, the Materna group of companies has regularly experienced double-digit growth. With Martin Wibbe at the helm, both organic and acquisitions-related growth will continue throughout all four of the company’s business units.

The Digital Transformation and Public Sector business units focus primarily on business in Germany supporting IT and digitalization projects at their business and public administration customers by delivering consulting services and technology. This sees Materna benefiting from the advance of digitalization across all sectors, such as in the public sector and the production industry. Materna’s SAP consulting and automated passenger handling businesses have an international focus mainly addressing industrial companies, airlines and airports.

About Martin Wibbe

Martin Wibbe (41), as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer and Member of the Executive Management Board Germany, was previously responsible for sales and marketing at Atos IT Solutions & Services GmbH in Germany. Before that he had held various management positions in sales, marketing and business development at Siemens IT Solutions & Services and Siemens Business Services. Martin Wibbe has a degree in Business Studies (majoring in business informatics) from the University of Applied Science in Berlin and has an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen and the TU Munich. Martin Wibbe was born in Salzkotten (Germany), is married and has one daughter.
